About Me

My name is Nathan and I have been drinking Whisky for a number of years now, first introduced to me by my father. Having drank bourbon after my introduction to Whisky, I moved onto more familiar brands of Glenfiddich and Glen Moray shortly after.

After a number of years drinking Whisky fairly similar to these brands, I took a trip to Edinburgh with my then girlfriend, now wife. My father-in-law gave me £10 to spend at a hotel in Edinburgh which he had been to only months earlier to try whatever Whisky I wanted in the hotel bar. The choice in the hotel bar was endless and I was utterly confused by what to try. Happily for me the barman guided me towards a 10 year old Laphroaig. The difference in flavour between this and what I had tried previously was a special moment for me as it opened my eyes into the complexities of the drink.

Now nearly 8 years down the line I have expanded my small collection of Whisky, and though I still have the more conventional Glen Moray, it has expanded to include Laphroaig, Dalmore, Talisker, and newer names like The Cotswold Distillery. I also have a small quantity of Irish as well.

Unfortunately for my wife I can only see this small collection growing in size and my bank account seems concerned by this also, especially as I love crystal decanters to house the golden liquid in.

I have decided to create this small little website/blog/review page to introduce people to Whisky and to give them a bit of a guide into this complex spirit.

My current collection!
